Ownership history

Founded 1918 as a farmers' co-operative (chair Dr Charles Kohler); 1924 KWV Act gave it statutory powers; converted to a company 1997; share restrictions lifted 2003; 2004 BBBEE deal (Phetogo, up to 25.1%); KWV Ltd became KWV Holdings 2009 after unbundling from Distell; HCI majority (52%) 2012; Vasari bought KWV from HCI in 2016.
